Clinical Psychology.

Clinical psychology focuses on understanding and supporting emotional psychological and behavioural wellbeing.         At different times in life,  many of us experience distress, overwhelm, or patterns of thought and feeling that are hard to manage alone. Talking with a trained clinical psychologist can help you make sense of these experiences in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space.

Clinical psychologists are highly trained professionals who work with you to understand the underlying causes of difficulties, develop practical coping strategies, and support positive change. Rather than simply addressing symptoms, clinical psychology looks at the whole person — thoughts, emotions, relationships, past experiences, and current challenges — helping you build resilience and move forward with greater confidence and wellbeing.

Who is Clinical Psychology for?
People seek support from clinical psychologists for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a specific difficulty, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship problems, low self-esteem, or coping with illness, loss, or major life changes.

At other times, you may feel generally overwhelmed, stuck, or dissatisfied with life without being able to pinpoint exactly why. Clinical psychology can help you explore these feelings in depth, gain insight into unhelpful patterns, and work towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Clinical psychology can also support people facing long-standing patterns, complex emotional difficulties, or challenges that have built up over time.

Clinical Psychology service provided at BNHS can include therapy for both, adults and or children. This includes  assessment with children, teenagers and/or families as a whole.

What to expect…
An initial session is an opportunity to talk through your concerns in your own words, learn more about how clinical psychology works, and explore what you would like to gain from therapy. Together, you can decide on a way forward that feels right for you.

If you choose to continue, sessions are usually held at a regular time each week or fortnight. Therapy may be short-term and focused on a particular issue, or longer-term and more open-ended, depending on your needs and goals.
